UPDATE March 2020: In light of the Coronavirus outbreak, all lessons are now taking place online via Zoom.
I teach clarinet and saxophone to students of all ages and levels across South London, from complete beginners to more experienced players wishing to improve their technique.
My lessons are individually tailored so the each student can reach whatever musical goals they have. That might be preparation for formal ABRSM graded exams or simply playing for fun – or maybe a bit of both!
I have a 100% pass rate – all my students who entered ABRSM exams last year passed with either merit or distinction – and hold an enhanced DBS certificate.
Whatever you want to achieve, my lessons will incorporate practical, aural, theory and musicianship skills, helping students to become well-rounded musicians and excellent players – it’s not just about passing exams, after all; it’s about enjoying playing your clarinet or sax to the best of your abilities!
Adult returners or beginners are very welcome. Are you taking up clarinet or sax in later life, or coming back to it after a long break? It’s never too late to learn or brush up long-forgotten skills.
As a committed and very active local musician I can also introduce students to opportunities to play with bands, wind orchestras and ensembles as they progress – a great way to improve your skills, meet new people and have a lot of fun.
Where do lessons take place?
I teach from my home in Sydenham, SE26. I’m about ten minutes’ walk from either Sydenham or Forest Hill mainline stations and a short bus ride from Penge East. The #75 bus stops directly outside and there is also ample free parking.
I currently have slots available during the day, on a Saturday morning, and limited evening slots. After-school slots fill up quickly, so please enquire early to avoid disappointment.
30 minutes: £20
45 minutes: £25
60 minutes: £30
How long should I book for?
A 30 minute lesson is ideal for younger children and adult beginners up to Grades 2/3.
Older children and adults at approximately Grades 4-5 and those approaching exams usually do better with a 45 minute lesson.
The 60 minute lessons is ideal for advanced students at Grades 6-8.
